  • Essaouira, Morocco, is a glistening white harbor town where there is no escaping the gulls. Rumor has it that the inspiration for "The Birds" came during a visit here. I have no doubt that is true, since they are truly fearless, flying straight at anyone who disturbs the peace by, say, waiting for the sun to set.
