Spring colors at Saguaro National Park
The Sonoran Desert erupts in color in spring. Here desert zinnia (Zinnia acerosa) and globemallow (probably Sphaeralcea ambigua) steal the spotlight from prickly pear and cholla in Saguaro National Park near Tucson, Arizona.
Saguaro National Park protects two wilderness areas right outside Tucson. Not surprisingly, the park has lots of saguaro cacti, but also lots of other cacti and wildflowers. Each spring the Sonoran Desert comes alive with color as a mix of flowering plants burst into bloom.
